<p style="text-align: left;"><a href="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/10.png" rel="lightbox[4621]" title="10"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4624" title="10" src="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/10.png" alt="we rule ipad app" width="200" height="140" /></a><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="200" height="140" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="quality" value="autolow" /><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/uFHwa76Gg0g" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="200" height="140" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/uFHwa76Gg0g" quality="autolow"></embed></object></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Ill be honest here, I don&#8217;t believe this should be on the <strong>Top-10 best iPad</strong><strong> apps</strong> list&#8230;I personally hate these &#8216;farm&#8217; type games, always have and always will. If you feel the need to digitally explore, conquer, expand etc&#8230;then go invest your time and dignity into a respectable release. For instance: the &#8220;Civilization&#8221;, &#8220;Total War&#8221; or &#8220;Age of Empires&#8221; series&#8230;not this crap. That being said; this title is very popular on both the iPhone and iPad and gets a lot of praise, for reasons still unknown to me&#8230;you be the judge.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #ff6600;"><strong>Size: </strong></span><span style="color: #000000;">35 MB&#8217;s</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #ff6600;"><span style="color: #000000;"> </span><strong><br />
</strong></span></p>
<h4>Twitterrific</h4>
<p><a href="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/9.png" rel="lightbox[4621]" title="9"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4625" title="9" src="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/9.png" alt="Twitterrific ipad application" width="200" height="140" /></a><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="200" height="140" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Q0xp9hZgcvM" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="200" height="140" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Q0xp9hZgcvM"></embed></object></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">First off, this is a very nice looking application, visually appealing, function-able, clean and efficient. I&#8217;d go as far as to say the best twitter-related app to date in my opinion. Twitterrific also offers support for multimedia, allowing the ability for users to tweet pictures and video.  Other features currently include filters, retweets, link shortening, e-mail and tweet translation.</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #ff6600;">Size:</span> </strong>4.4<strong> </strong>MB&#8217;s</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #ff6600;"><br />

<h4>WeatherBug Elite</h4>
<p><a href="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/8.png" rel="lightbox[4621]" title="8"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4626" title="8" src="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/8.png" alt="weatherbug elite app icon" width="200" height="140" /></a><object style="width: 200px; height: 140px;" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="200" height="140" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/AGyNa2yXvao" /><embed style="width: 200px; height: 140px;" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="200" height="140" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/AGyNa2yXvao"></embed></object></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">They say the &#8220;WeatherBug&#8221; network is the largest weather network in the world, after seeing this application in action&#8230;I believe them without requiring much more convincing beyond this point. With very little effort, you are literally given access to all of  planet Earth&#8217;s current weather information at your fingertips. There is not much more I can add here, its simply amazing &amp; is a must-have iPad application.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">A cool, free, personalized radio allowing you to stream music on your iPad. Start by typing names of your favorite songs or artists and Pandora will do the rest, it will build you your own personal station that will play what you want to hear, get it, use it, love it.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">This is more than just a great Ebook-reader, it writes the book on Ebook reading. I love the bookshelf, flip it around to reveal the book store giving you access to thousands of Ebooks, many of them free. Its so well designed its seems just like the real thing, once in a while you will even forget you holding the iPad in your hands, they did a very good job here, a beautiful app.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">What a great way to pass the time! An interactive program guide feature allows you to to plan you viewing schedules &amp; highlights your favorite programs. View sports, news, finance, entertainment, business &amp; more. Another one of those visually-stunning apps, a lot of work went into this beauty and it shows, where have you been all my life?</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Why did I list 2 media-oriented apps back to back? Because I can&#8217;t decide between the two..there both terrific, but in their own unique ways. This one does require a subscriptions but also gives you access to full movies, TV shows and other types of usually restricted media. All and all, well worth the investment.</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #ff6600;">Size:</span> </strong>3.6 MB&#8217;s</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #ff6600;"><br />

<p style="text-align: justify;">Another application designed by Apple specifically for the iPad. Keynote does a terrific job of helping you make the most out of your presentations. Design with the help of built-in dazzling themes, transitions, tables, charts, animations and much more. This app also offers very intuitive touch controls that allow any user to increase productivity on multiple levels. Its #1 on our list  of Top-10 iPad apps because this is what I envisioned when I first heard about the iPad, the ability to share stunning presentations with others in the business world wherever, whenever.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[This is the new - all carbon fibre - Lexus LFA. It's got issues. A lot of issues. It tries so hard to impress that it falls flat on its pretentious face. Toyota (parent company of Lexus), realized that they could never come close to the insanity that is the Nissan GTR (or any other super car for that matter), so they ignored the elephant in the room and simply said "it's a bargain compared to the Ferrari Enzo and Mercedes SLR-McLaren. " 2012 - Lexus LFA price, specs, videos, super car comparison and more inside... ]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/lexus_lfa_det.jpg" rel="lightbox[4289]" title="Lexus LFA: The most pretentious car on the planet. <p>Don&#8217;t get me wrong; the LF-A is an amazing machine. It just comes down to pure numbers, pedigree, and common sense.</p>
<p>The issue is that Lexus (Toyota), are caught in a market they&#8217;ve never been in. Sure they had the Supra in the 80&#8242;s and 90&#8242;s, but that was a machine built to compete with the then growing sports coupe market. Not the pure-bred super-car market they&#8217;re trying to enter now.  Likewise, for companies trying to gain a foot-hold in this market is met with a VERY pesky thorn: The Nissan GTR.</p>
<p><a href="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/2009_nissan_gt_r_x_side_view.jpg" rel="lightbox[4289]" title="Lexus LFA: The most pretentious car on the planet. "><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4504" src="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/2009_nissan_gt_r_x_side_view.jpg" alt="" width="429" height="253" /></a></p>
<p><a href="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/spacer.jpg" rel="lightbox[4289]" title="Lexus LFA: The most pretentious car on the planet. "><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4523" src="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/spacer.jpg" alt="" width="333" height="68" /></a></p>
<h3>The Issue? Extreme competition</h3>
<p>The Nissan Skyline (GTR) has been around since the 1950&#8242;s and has always been the Japanese pinnacle of auto performance and cutting edge technology.  The GTR decimated every factory racing series hands down (usually took all podium spots too), until rule changes led to their dismissal from some the very races they were dominating.  Nissan has a formula for super cars that no one else can touch.  Unfortunately for Lexus, whether they admit it or not, the Nissan GTR is their direct competition, and they&#8217;re getting a bad beat down before the LF-A is even launched. If Toyota ever wants to take a real go at the market, and not bowing-out before they even enter (making a limited production run), they better make something and pit it against the GTR directly. When the Corvette ZR-1 launched, they did just that and gained respect from import lovers all over the world (not to mention the insane amount of free PR).   Lexus, I&#8217;m reminded of two very suiting quotes from a popular movie (try and guess which one):</p>
<blockquote><p>-  &#8220;You can&#8217;t just step into the ring because you think you can box&#8230; &#8221;<br />
-  &#8220;It&#8217;s not how you stand by your car&#8230; it&#8217;s how you race it, you better learn that&#8230; &#8220;</p></blockquote>
<p><a href="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/corvettecomparo_gt_r_vs_zr1_group_3_500.jpg" rel="lightbox[4289]" title="Lexus LFA: The most pretentious car on the planet. "><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4505" src="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/corvettecomparo_gt_r_vs_zr1_group_3_500.jpg" alt="" width="426" height="268" /></a></p>
<p><a href="../wp-content/uploads/2010/06/spacer.jpg" rel="lightbox[4289]" title="Lexus LFA: The most pretentious car on the planet. "><img src="../wp-content/uploads/2010/06/spacer.jpg" alt="" width="333" height="67" /></a></p>
<h3>The issue? The LFA snob factor.</h3>
<p><a href="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/Lexus_LF-A_roadster_159.jpg" rel="lightbox[4289]" title="Lexus LFA: The most pretentious car on the planet. "><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-4507" src="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/Lexus_LF-A_roadster_159.jpg" alt="" width="420" height="315" /></a></p>
<p>Despite the extreme light weight, the LF-A still can&#8217;t compete with the Nissan GTR. So what does Lexus think about that? They ignore the GTR altogether and compare the LF-A to the Ferrari Enzo and the Mercedes SLR-McLaren, as a &#8220;cheaper alternative&#8221;. But again, as you will see in the provided numbers, there is no comparison. The LFA keeps coming up short. They&#8217;re stuck in super-car limbo with a good looking, lightweight, and terribly performing machine. During a heated office discussion, I think I said it best:  &#8220;The Lexus LF-A is the big plush leather seat that everyone wants to sit in&#8230;a true &#8220;super car&#8221; is the rigid, light weight, and uncomfortable seat that only true enthusiasts will appreciate.&#8221;</p>
<p>Paraphrased, the LFA is a fad and/or a gross bastardization. It suffers from delusions of grandeur.  It will never be known for its performance. Just it&#8217;s looks, bells and whistles, and insane price. Wait&#8230; this is all too familiar.  Lexus F-&#8217;ed up like this once before. The failed Lexus SC430&#8230;. Hey Lexus &#8211; don&#8217;t get yourself down &#8211; girls LOVE them!  It&#8217;s like a big comfy leather Miata. Maybe you just created the first super-car for the female market? (Was that sexist?&#8230; hmm).</p>

<h3>The issue? Mandatory two-year LFA lease @ $12,400 a month&#8230;<br />
<a href="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/Lexus-LF-A-Roadster.jpg" rel="lightbox[4289]" title="Lexus LFA: The most pretentious car on the planet. <p>Lexus is being totally, completely, and retardedly pretentious about the way one must acquire the LFA (well, in the USA anyways&#8230; us EU residents can have the title immediately). Lexus claims that they wants to &#8220;avoid the fly-by-night buyers&#8221; who will snatch up these limited production cars and sell them for &#8220;outrageous prices&#8221;.  So Toyota decided to do that themselves!   Lexus is LEASING the LFA for two years before the original leaser can opt to purchase the vehicle. The lease (which isn&#8217;t really a legit lease) is worth $12,400 A MONTH &#8211; paid all up-front !   Yup, <span style="text-decoration: line-through">suckers</span> lucky buyers won&#8217;t just buy their LFA once&#8230; no, no, these lucky <span style="text-decoration: line-through">suckers</span> buyers get to buy their LFA&#8217;s <em>TWICE</em>!   The 24-month lease alone will cost the buyer $297,600.  THEN they&#8217;re lucky enough &#8211; after said 24-months &#8211; to pay out the ass again! Yay!   It&#8217;s a terrible maneuver, whether they&#8217;re trying to add to their bottom line (100% yes, for sure), or somehow curb resellers (just a bad excuse to charge more) &#8211; they&#8217;re not doing themselves any favours.</p>
<p>P.T. Barnum said it best &#8211; &#8220;There&#8217;s a sucker born every minute&#8221;.<br />
<a href="../wp-content/uploads/2010/06/spacer.jpg" rel="lightbox[4289]" title="Lexus LFA: The most pretentious car on the planet. "><img src="../wp-content/uploads/2010/06/spacer.jpg" alt="" width="333" height="66" /></a></p>
<h3>The issue? The LFA Price is actually $672,600 (in the USA)!<br />
<a href="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/2005-Lexus-LF-A-01.jpg" rel="lightbox[4289]" title="Lexus LFA: The most pretentious car on the planet. <p>So you&#8217;re a &#8220;high value&#8221; customer of Lexus and you want to buy the LFA and be the big wheel in your Toyota forums. Well great news &#8220;high value&#8221; customer, after spending $297,600 up-front on a $375k car on a 2-year lease,  you still have to actually BUY the LFA after.  No worries though, as a &#8220;high value&#8221; customer of Lexus and having spent 80% of the value of the car already, you would think you&#8217;d get a great buy-out deal&#8230; And what a awesome lease buy-out deal it is, at $375,000!  This adds up for a grand total of $672,600 to fully purchase the LFA. Awesome.  That&#8217;s not sneaky, maniacal, or shady at all.  Within the first 7 months of leasing the LFA you could out-right own the (considerably faster) GTR and have a heap left over for new rims. Mind you we in EU have a lot to be thankful for; Toyota must think we&#8217;re much sharper than American&#8217;s &#8211; as we only pay ONCE!  Ha ha!  But it&#8217;s still a pricey £330,000.<br />
<a href="../wp-content/uploads/2010/06/spacer.jpg" rel="lightbox[4289]" title="Lexus LFA: The most pretentious car on the planet. "><img src="../wp-content/uploads/2010/06/spacer.jpg" alt="" width="333" height="66" /></a></p>
<h3>The issue? The LFA weight obsession.</h3>
<p><object width="500" height="281"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/l4DLr8qHliI?version=3&#038;feature=oembed"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/l4DLr8qHliI?version=3&#038;feature=oembed" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="500" height="281" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object></p>
<p>I really don&#8217;t know what was running through their heads when the concept was first brought forward. The construction of the frame and other carbon fibre components is nothing short of amazing. If clients of Marina Rinaldi put as much time into weight loss as Lexus did with the LFA, we&#8217;d be looking at a lot more hot women in the EU.  The reason why the LFA costs so much is primarily due to the fact that it&#8217;s been constructed of nearly all carbon fibre and science. I know what you&#8217;re thinking, and you&#8217;re right; it&#8217;s a light weight car, one of the lightest out there today. Though, of the 9 other super cars I&#8217;ve compared it to, only TWO are lighter in weight than the LFA &#8211; and one of them is the million dollar Enzo. You&#8217;d think with the extreme light weight and over 550 hp the LFA would perform like no other, but you&#8217;d be wrong to think that. In fact, the LFA (by pure performance numbers alone) is one of the worst performers of the bunch. Ouch. It&#8217;s equally interesting to note that 9 years ago they started with a all aluminum frame (which is good enough for almost all super cars) and decided that their car was too heavy and went back to develop a all carbon fibre frame to offset the weight. Makes you wonder where the extra bulk is.<br />
<a href="../wp-content/uploads/2010/06/spacer.jpg" rel="lightbox[4289]" title="Lexus LFA: The most pretentious car on the planet. "><img src="../wp-content/uploads/2010/06/spacer.jpg" alt="" width="333" height="68" /></a></p>
<h3>The issue? The media.</h3>
<p><object width="500" height="281"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/A5R-oi91bd4?version=3&#038;feature=oembed"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/A5R-oi91bd4?version=3&#038;feature=oembed" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="500" height="281" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object></p>
<p>FRIG, this video makes me sooo mad! &#8211; There are so many articles out there that claims this car is the &#8220;be all &#8211; end all&#8221; of modern super cars, and I can&#8217;t help but wonder how much Toyota is paying them to write that (yes, seriously). Just the other week this video popped up on YouTube that pitted the Nissan GTR in a 1/4 mile drag race against the Lexus LFA. DON&#8217;T GET ME STARTED ON BIASED AUTO MAGAZINE REVIEWS AND COMPARISONS. They&#8217;re always biased and based on who&#8217;s paying for the content. The video even shows the LFA BEATING the GTR in the drag race.<strong> It doesn&#8217;t take a rocket scientist to know that a 11.9 second 1/4 mile in the GTR is slow.</strong> The retarded amateur drivers from the stupid magazine totally skewed the results to boast the LFA&#8217;s status as a &#8220;GTR killer&#8221;. Even if the act of driving the GTR slower wasn&#8217;t on purpose, the official 1/4 mile times are public for everyone to see. How can you just ignore pure facts? How can you lie in your reporting? How can you not question your amateur drivers time with the officially recorded time? I&#8217;m pretty sure money is the answer to all of these questions. For these blatant acts of media manipulation, I give Lexus and MotorTrend the big middle finger.<br />
<a href="../wp-content/uploads/2010/06/spacer.jpg" rel="lightbox[4289]" title="Lexus LFA: The most pretentious car on the planet. "><img src="../wp-content/uploads/2010/06/spacer.jpg" alt="" width="333" height="67" /></a></p>
<h3>Conclusion &#8211; It&#8217;s not that I hate the Lexus LFA&#8230;</h3>
<p><a href="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/delorean_brochure3_811.jpg" rel="lightbox[4289]" title="Lexus LFA: The most pretentious car on the planet. <p>It&#8217;s just that it&#8217;s the biggest super-car impostor since the Delorean. At least the people who bought the Delorean <em>KNEW</em> they were getting an under-performing &#8211; pretty looking (?) &#8211; car.   My issue is that the Lexus LFA claims to be something that it is clearly not. I don&#8217;t give a shit that it&#8217;s constructed of 95% carbon fibre, or that it has a odometer straight out of Grand Tourismo&#8230; they&#8217;re all just sales gimmicks. The car wasn&#8217;t constructed as a pure performing super sports car, it was conceived through the sales ideas of Toyota marketing. Caution wasn&#8217;t thrown out the window, it was carefully used to understand what sells a super car these days. That is, when you&#8217;re a econo-box company trying to make it in a market they have no business being in: You make a car and fill it with all the gadgets and toys people in that market talk about, pay for biased and skewed comparisons from third parties, and ignore your direct competition while comparing this monstrosity to iconic hyper cars. All the while fooling the public into believing that this car belongs. It does not.</p>

<p>The Nissan GTR is a perfect example of how auto legends are born: Nissan made and continuously refined a sports coupe over decades that now happens to be a better performer than most super cars on the road. All for a price that has remained &#8220;affordable&#8221; for true sports car enthusiasts (much cheaper than super cars). Nissan took the modest approach and left a bigger legacy in the super car market than most pure bred super-car manufactures could ever dream of. (Image directly below is of a vintage 60&#8242;s Nissan GTR)</p>
<p><a href="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/850749591_2bee12e256.jpg" rel="lightbox[4289]" title="Lexus LFA: The most pretentious car on the planet. <p>Take my advice Toyota: Re-brand the LFA as the Toyota Supra (maybe use aluminum instead of all carbon fibre for cost reasons), label the car as a &#8220;sports coupe&#8221;, and refine it. Earn your spot in the super car pantheon, don&#8217;t buy it. It&#8217;s the difference between a lasting impression and a one-shit wonder (and I do mean &#8216;shit&#8217;).</p>

<p>Here&#8217;s a chart of performance Specs for the Lexus LFA &#8211; and it&#8217;s &#8220;competition&#8221;.  The numbers speak volumes.  Numbers in GREEN are better performers than the LFA, numbers in RED show where the LFA is beating the competition. Keep in mind Top Speed and Power to Weight are kinda of negligible.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[You think explorers like Columbus &#038; Marco Polo had it hard? Well your right, they sure did, but consider exploring the world in extreme detail without having to leave the comfort of your home. We call them arm-chair explorers - a new breed able to circumnavigate the globe via Google Earth, without the need for ship convoys, well-trained deckhands &#038; of course much less danger. Ben recognizes these modern-day digital explores &#038; salutes them by compiling a list of what he believes to be the Top 10 Greatest Google Earth Finds.

<p>Classic! Now what do you think this conversation between the Google van driver &amp; this police officer consisted of:</p>
<ul>
<li>Speeding</li>
<li>Directions (wouldn’t that be ironic) i.e. Google Maps</li>
<li>Or how about…”Sir, why do you have a gigantic camera mounted on your roof”?</li>

<p>Lol, here’s a good one. I wonder how long these three people have been waiting for this bus to come. It does look like someone perhaps graffitied the phrase in white spray paint&#8230;could very well be a prank, &amp; if that is the case, not working as effectively as one would hope.</p>

<p>Wow, that is a lot of post-it notes! I don’t even think I would put that kind of time/effort into a prank &#8211; &amp; don’t get me wrong, I am quite thorough when it comes to pissing people off. I wonder if they actual have text written on them, &amp; if so&#8230;What kind of ridiculousness may they contain – so much is left to the imagination here.</p>

<p>Well this is a little more subtle I suppose &#8211; a swastika visible only from the air. I seriously doubt the original architect could have failed to notice the resemblance here; of course it may not have been their original intention, wait! A quick Wikipedia reference tells me this facility was commissioned in 1944, the plot thickens&#8230;.</p>

<p>Here is the location of a Bolivian cargo ferry named The “SS Jassim”. It is now shipwrecked in the Wingate Reef, near the Sudan coast in 2003. They say this is the largest shipwreck visible within Google maps.</p>

<p>Check out this Google Earth view. Hmmm…wing-span is a bit short to be a plane, trajectory appears completely horizontal…couldn’t be a rocket. Eureka! This appears to be some sort of a missile in mid-flight near Junction, Utah. I wonder where its headed? Not too much besides mountains lie beyond its path.</p>

<p>Well now, this is odd…Now what the bloody hell could this have been used for…or what are they planning on using it for:</p>
<ul>
<li>A prostitute violence-awareness parade</li>
<li>Some sort of playground designed with sexual-education in mind</li>
<li>Goliath’s abandoned sex-toy</li>
</ul>
<p>The strangest thing is that; not only are the arms/legs severed – but there appears to be representation of muscles &amp; tendons where the arms would have been. Hmmm, I have quite the imagination &amp; even I am having an awfully hard time determining what the hell is going on here.  It reminds me of that old Sesame street skit, “One of these things is not like the other, one of these things just doesn’t belong”…Yeah &amp; it’s the colossal severed torso being stored behind your warehouse!</p>

<p>Now here’s a nice change, two urban gentlemen battling each other dressed in medieval attire, I really can’t say I see this every day. <p>Hypothetically speaking:  Let&#8217;s say this robot was 10 more years advanced and mass produced for MI5/Interpol&#8230;etc.  I see the following uses for this flying contraption:</p>
<p>- A powerful explosive to breach hideouts.<br />
- A powerful explosive to breach insurgents innards.<br />
- A powerful impromptu IED (yeah, an explosive).<br />
- A camera for surveillance&#8230;with a optional powerful explosive.</p>
<p>Yeah, it&#8217;s going to blow stuff up for us &#8211; BEFORE it becomes self aware &#8211; then it will blow US up.</p>
<p>Let me know what you think this could be used for in the future&#8230;</p>

<p>Tokyo Flash &#8211; if you haven&#8217;t already heard of them &#8211; is a little design studio that creates crazy concept watches. Some are VERY eccentric, some are VERY nerdy. . . and some, well, some are just properly awesome!</p>
<p><a href="../wp-content/uploads/2010/05/im-5.jpg" rel="lightbox[3758]" title="<!--:en-->What Time is it? &#8211; Tokyo Flash &#8220;Binary Flow&#8221; watch. <!--:-->&#8220;><img src="../wp-content/uploads/2010/05/im-5.jpg" alt="" width="336" height="299" /></a></p>
<p>This particular watch is all awesome. Very clean and sleek, with the e-paper display wrapping around your wrist. So cool! These watches aren&#8217;t for everyone, but if you have a untamed watch fetish as I do, Tokyo Flash certainly has something you&#8217;ll like.  No, these aren&#8217;t your Patek Phillippe, Rado, or Omega watches, as prices range from about $40 usd to $250. But that is what makes them so fun!  For times when you want to wear a really funky watch, but don&#8217;t want to be &#8216;that guy&#8217; with a $5000 watch all the time. These make great everyday watches, AND will get noticed WAY more often than your 007 series Omega, that I promise.</p>
<p><a href="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/im-4.jpg" rel="lightbox[3758]" title="<!--:en-->What Time is it? &#8211; Tokyo Flash &#8220;Binary Flow&#8221; watch. <!--:-->&#8220;><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3762" src="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/im-4.jpg" alt="" width="333" height="293" /></a></p>
<blockquote><p><strong>&#8220;</strong> At last, a concept design that is extremely simple to read. Hours, groups of 10 minutes and single minutes are shown in three sections; each line indicating an hour, a group of 10 minutes or a single minute. The date is shown in the same way. Within this simple display, the time is also shown in binary – great for those who like a challenge.<br />
A USB rechargeable design that uses a combination of materials to create the case and strap; stainless steel merges into rubber and the e-paper display is embedded within&#8230;<strong>&#8220;</strong></p></blockquote>
<p>Now about the time. Have you figured it out yet?  It&#8217;s the same time on every picture here&#8230; Let me help you out;  it&#8217;s 2:37pm on February 24th.  JEEZE!</p>
<p><a href="../wp-content/uploads/2010/05/im-5.jpg"><br />
</a><a href="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/U-ins-man3.jpg" rel="lightbox[3758]" title="<!--:en-->What Time is it? &#8211; Tokyo Flash &#8220;Binary Flow&#8221; watch. <!--:-->&#8220;><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3763" src="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/U-ins-man3.jpg" alt="" width="579" height="462" /></a></p>

<p>If I was loaded, I would totally buy a few of these for my place. Even if it was just to prank / annoy my cellular-addicted friends. This thing is really cool!</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;  Powerful and effective, this cell phone jammer effectively disables any cell phone and will <strong>stop all signals on the GSM, CDMA, DCS, PHS, and 3G bands without interrupting any other electronic device</strong>. With the included remote control, users can turn the device on and off for instant jamming and unjamming. Also included is sensitivity control for partial and selective blocking of any mobile phone signal. &#8221;</p>

<p>This is suggested for library&#8217;s, meeting rooms, government buildings, and even the ultra paranoid tin-foil-hat types.  Other than the horrid print, it&#8217;s a cool product. I think I&#8217;ll put a Dali print over it.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><!--:en--><a href="http://nation.towergaming.com/2010/05/inside-darpa-20-advanced-technology-projects-pt-1-of-4/">In last week&#8217;s edition of &#8220;Inside DARPA&#8221;</a> we learned about crazy ChemBots, Accelerated learning, Polymer Ice, and a bunch of other crazy shit DARPA is coming up with. Again, this is just the stuff that we KNOW ABOUT ! I can only imagine the crazy awesome things they&#8217;re secretly making!</p>
<h3>Self Decontaminating Surface</h3>
<p><a href="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/sds-logo.jpg" rel="lightbox[3671]" title="<!--:en-->Inside DARPA: 20 Advanced Technology Projects. – Pt 2 of 4<!--:-->&#8220;><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3673" src="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/sds-logo.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="75" /></a></p>
<p>So your battalion is in the Middle East pushing the enemy back when all-of-a-sudden some asshole decides to use a deadly chemical agent to bomb the crap out of you and your men. Not only is this attack ruining your allotted tan time, but now all your men are contaminated with hazardous &#8220;stuff&#8221;.</p>
<p>Good thing the friendly private contractors of DARPA have nearly perfected Self Decontaminating Surfaces. From infrastructure like tents, brick and mortar, and sand bag bunkers to random objects like your gun, electronics, and clothing, all your inanimate objects will clean themselves!</p>
<p>Nano-technology is really cool and scary all at the same time. At least now you can tan in peace knowing that any fallout will be magically scrubbed away by your little US funded nano-buddies (just cover your skin up when you tan, okay?).</p>
<p><a href="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/delf-cleaning.jpg" rel="lightbox[3671]" title="<!--:en-->Inside DARPA: 20 Advanced Technology Projects. – Pt 2 of 4<!--:-->&#8220;><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3672" src="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/delf-cleaning.jpg" alt="" width="491" height="344" /></a></p>
<h3>Structural Amorphous Metals<br />
<a href="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/sam-logo.jpg" rel="lightbox[3671]" title="<!--:en-->Inside DARPA: 20 Advanced Technology Projects. – Pt 2 of 4<!--:-->&#8220;><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3677" src="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/sam-logo.jpg" alt="" width="121" height="157" /></a></h3>
<p>Aluminum alloy? So 1990&#8242;s.  Titanium alloy? Pul-lease!  Adamantium? Fictitiously obsolete.  If you&#8217;re not an amorphous metal, you&#8217;re just another one of those &#8220;ium&#8221; metal-alloys of the old-school.</p>
<p>Welcome to the future, where traditional alloys have been left in the past for amorphous alloys; a super light, super strong, corrosion resistant alloy that will revolutionize many of the products we use today AND will use in the future. Even crazier, this new method of forging allows amorphous metals to retain its original shape, even when forcible bent.  (Ever see the video of the crazy shape retaining foil from the Roswell, New Mexico crash?  THIS IS THE SAME SHIT! )</p>
<p><strong>What is Amorphous Metals?</strong></p>
<p><em>Wiki explains:</em></p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;An <strong>amorphous metal</strong> is a metallic material with a disordered atomic-scale structure. In contrast to most metals, which are crystalline and therefore have a highly ordered arrangement of atoms, amorphous alloys are non-crystalline. Materials in which such a disordered structure is produced directly from the liquid state during cooling are called &#8220;glasses&#8221;, and so amorphous metals are commonly referred to as &#8220;<strong>metallic glasses</strong>&#8221; or &#8220;<strong>glassy metals</strong>&#8220;.</p>
<p>&#8221; An amorphous metal is an alloy combining elements of differing atomic diameters.  The differing atomic diameters and unusual composition prevents the atoms from arranging in a regular crystalline structure (like normal metal alloys). The atoms have no easy way to slip by each other under deformation, resulting in a very hard material. &#8220;</p></blockquote>
<p>This is exciting stuff because it&#8217;s already here, and MANY labs are experimenting with it everyday.  It won&#8217;t be long before we will see this technology make it to main-stream consumer goods. DARPA explains some of the many uses for this tech:</p>
<blockquote><p>“&#8230;..achieve combinations of mechanical properties that provide revolutionary improvements compared to those of comparable conventional alloys. Amorphous-composite hybrid materials that have the stiffness of beryllium and twice the strength will be demonstrated in space applications. Bulk amorphous alloys that have strength, fatigue, and corrosion properties better than titanium will be demonstrated in turbine applications.”</p></blockquote>
<p><a href="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/glass.jpg" rel="lightbox[3671]" title="<!--:en-->Inside DARPA: 20 Advanced Technology Projects. – Pt 2 of 4<!--:-->&#8220;><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3676" src="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/glass.jpg" alt="" width="503" height="377" /></a></p>
<p><object width="500" height="375"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/-4xc3fs7rFc?version=3&#038;feature=oembed"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/-4xc3fs7rFc?version=3&#038;feature=oembed" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="500" height="375" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object></p>
<h3>Power Swim</h3>
<p><a href="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/powerswim_logo_sm.jpg" rel="lightbox[3671]" title="<!--:en-->Inside DARPA: 20 Advanced Technology Projects. – Pt 2 of 4<!--:-->&#8220;><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3678" src="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/powerswim_logo_sm.jpg" alt="" width="200" height="77" /></a></p>
<p>SAS, Navy Seals, and CAN-TF2 have all got BIG upgrades from this technology already. What&#8217;s interesting about it is its lack of pushy buttons and electric gizmos.  This human powered unit helps underwater covert soldiers reach their destination using only a fraction of the previously required energy.</p>
<p><a href="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/DARPA_PowerSwim_PM.jpg" rel="lightbox[3671]" title="<!--:en-->Inside DARPA: 20 Advanced Technology Projects. – Pt 2 of 4<!--:-->&#8220;><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3679" src="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/DARPA_PowerSwim_PM.jpg" alt="" width="463" height="398" /></a></p>
<p><em>DARPA says: </em></p>
<blockquote><p>&#8221; When used properly, the device allows swimmers to cover a given distance up to 150 percent faster than with fins, while using the same amount of energy. Much of that boost in metabolic efficiency is due to the muscle groups used. The swimmer is essentially relaxing into a slightly bent position, instead of forcing or pushing the foils through the water. This takes the emphasis off the small muscle groups used to kick, and allows larger muscle groups, such as the glutes and quads, to take over. During tests, it typically took around 2 hours for Navy SEALs to fight the urge (and years of training) to move forcefully and learn the PowerSwim&#8217;s unique motion. &#8220;</p></blockquote>
<p><a href="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/powerswim-howitworks-1107.jpg" rel="lightbox[3671]" title="<!--:en-->Inside DARPA: 20 Advanced Technology Projects. – Pt 2 of 4<!--:-->&#8220;><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3680" src="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/powerswim-howitworks-1107.jpg" alt="" width="470" height="283" /></a></p>
<p>Like I said, this bad boy is already in use today!</p>

<h3>Molecular Electronics<br />
<a href="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/moleapps-logo1.jpg" rel="lightbox[3671]" title="<!--:en-->Inside DARPA: 20 Advanced Technology Projects. – Pt 2 of 4<!--:-->&#8220;><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3682" src="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/moleapps-logo1.jpg" alt="" width="168" height="80" /></a></h3>
<p>In the future that DARPA sees, we&#8217;ll all have nano-computers inside our bodies. It will regulate everything from medicine, surgery, and bodily functions to harvesting electricity, knocking out rogue genes, and having awesome Iron Man augmented reality.</p>
<p>Moore&#8217;s Law dictated the inevitability of the penultimate size of a CPU. And right when it seemed like we were reaching that point, molecular electronics blows this theory out of the water. For the time being.  It&#8217;s all really quite insane.</p>
<blockquote><p>“Innovations in drug delivery through nanoparticles, select gene knockout, and portable sensing and testing devices&#8230; Research in harvesting excess vibration energy from nanowires, and converting this energy into electricity. “</p></blockquote>
<p>Let your imagination run wild, because this opens to door to literally a plethora of sci-fi style technologies!</p>
<p><a href="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/cbic_img5.png" rel="lightbox[3671]" title="<!--:en-->Inside DARPA: 20 Advanced Technology Projects. – Pt 2 of 4<!--:-->&#8220;><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3683" src="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/cbic_img5.png" alt="" width="530" height="286" /></a></p>
<p><object width="500" height="375"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/nrJYbrqguV4?version=3&#038;feature=oembed"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/nrJYbrqguV4?version=3&#038;feature=oembed" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="500" height="375" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object></p>
<h3>Real World Reasoning</h3>
<p><a href="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/real_sm.jpg" rel="lightbox[3671]" title="<!--:en-->Inside DARPA: 20 Advanced Technology Projects. – Pt 2 of 4<!--:-->&#8220;><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-3685" src="http://nation.towergaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/real_sm.jpg" alt="" width="245" height="181" /></a></p>
<p>I would love to see how this technology evolves into the future, as this is a pretty crazy computer rendering programme. Imagine you&#8217;re a general and you wanted to run simulations on possible methods of attack in any area of the world. This DARPA lead initiative would call on the use of a highly sophisticated software engine designed to use real-world data (satellite, photo, textual..etc) and intuitively reproduce a replica of the battlefield in question. Not only will this reproduction be visual (presumably with sweet 3D glasses), but the programme goes a step further to include interior layouts, and how physical objects would interact with the surroundings / simulations.</p>
<p><em>From DARPA&#8217;s proposal:</em></p>
<blockquote><p>“Create 100 km(squared) per hour of highly realistic immersive 3-D representations of the air/land/sea mission space from ISR data for any tactical environment, generate one city block of geo-specific building interiors and exteriors , and realistically model the interaction of physical objects.”</p></blockquote>
<p>Stay tuned for the 3rd and 4th edition next week and the week after. Furthermore, by now you must love me&#8230; so you should really use the RSS thingy below and get on the ChromeDome subscription-wagon.<!--:--><!--:ru-->
