Neutrinos are a fundamental particle with no electric charge, and previously thought to have no mass. The CUORE experiment (Cryogenic Underground Observatory for Rare Events) is determined to find the mass of neutrinos starting next year. The catch is that the CUORE experiment couldn’t have come to fruition without Roman lead ingots that were mined over 2,000 years ago…

Physicists are finally colliding particles in the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at nearly the speed of light. The energy necessary for this collision is so far the greatest amount of energy ever produced on our Planet (7 TeV).

The millions of subatomic particle collisions will hopefully lead to the emergence of never before seen particles.

This eruption is pretty crazy, right? This is one of those amazing ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ kind of events that reminds you just how powerful the Earth is. With events like this come fear mongering and exaggerated concern. I’m not talking about being landlocked in the UK, that’s understandable. I’m talking about the reports of a much bigger neighbouring volcano (Mount Katla) which is apparently ready to blow.

In a recent paper written by Theoretical Physicist Nikodem Poplawski from Indiana University, the Physicist suggests that the universe within which we reside may actually itself be contained within a wormhole which is part of a black hole that lies in another, bigger universe. Confused yet? Good.

A team of Scientists at Washington University in St. Louis, led by Younan Xia, have been working on methods to rid people of cancerous cells.

Cancer is a notorious disease for which treatment is very nonspecific. The team of Scientists have made great progress in terms of eliminating cancerous cells, and they are using gold to do so.

Fear is one of many innate human emotions. It is an emotional response to a perceived threat, or to put it in other words, a basic survival mechanism which is stimulated by things like pain or being threatened in any way. It is a natural response in most developed lifeforms which ensues survival. But since the human mind has developed so greatly, we don’t see much necessity for this emotion… right?

A group of astronomers claim that they have confirmed Einstein’s Theory of Relativity, and that the universes expansion is actually accelerating.

Using complex algorithms, the team led by Schrabback has improved the standard method and obtained galaxy shape measurements to an unprecedented precision.
